The prime minister has apologised for "the mistakes that have been made" and insisted that she "will lead the Conservatives into the next general election".

Liz Truss was speaking to the BBC's political editor, Chris Mason, after the new chancellor Jeremy Hunt overturned almost all of her tax-cutting plans to stabilise market turmoil.
