Computer firm Dell sponsors Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Computer company Dell has its Scottish headquarters in the east end of Glasgow

Computer firm Dell has become the latest sponsor of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The company will deliver the IT hardware required for the Games - including desktops, laptops, servers and storage technology across venues.

Dell is the seventh sponsor to be unveiled by the Games organisers.

The firm, which has its Scottish headquarters in Dennistoun, was the official computer hardware provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The announcement was made in Glasgow at Scotstoun Leisure Centre, where children from schools in Glasgow met a Commonwealth silver medallist, swimmer Jak Scott.

Glasgow 2014's chief executive David Grevemberg said: "Dell's global mindset and Scottish heart make them a great fit for Glasgow 2014.

"We are delighted to have a company with their expertise, based in Glasgow's east end, to perform such an important role for us through the supply of our IT equipment."
