Nicola Sturgeon visits Wick school campus site

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has visited the site on which Wick's £48.5m community campus will be built.

The campus will replace Wick High School and Pulteneytown and South primaries.

Three hundred people will be involved in constructing the new Highland Council facility, which will have a library and swimming pool.

The campus is due to be completed by the summer of 2016. Ms Sturgeon has cut the first turf at the site.

She said: "I'm delighted to be in Wick to mark this important milestone for this new school campus and I am confident it will be a fantastic addition to the local community when it is completed."

The Scottish government cabinet is meeting in Caithness.
