Two Pacific Ocean hurricanes seen from space
Two consecutive hurricanes have made their way to or through Hawaii in the last few days.
Hurricane Gilma, a Category 3 storm, weakened further Saturday night as it remained far east of Hawaii. Forecasts predict it will downgrade to a depression before reaching the islands.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Hone passed just south of Hawaii on Sunday, bringing heavy rainfall that prompted the National Weather Service to lift red flag warnings for potential wildfires on the drier sides of the islands.
