Red Arrows flypast for airport's 60th anniversary

The Red Arrows soared over East Midlands Airport (EMA) to celebrate the airport's 60th anniversary with a special flypast.

A family open weekend included displays from the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, with appearances from a Spitfire on Sunday and a Dakota on Monday.

The occasion marked six decades since the airport was officially opened by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on 21 July 1965.

"We're really grateful to the RAF for agreeing to treat the crowds to flypasts of some heritage aircraft," said EMA managing director Steve Griffiths.
