Meet Jaeger, the stray pup being trained to fight crime

A nine-week-old pup has gone from wandering the streets to becoming a police force's newest recruit.

Jaeger, a Belgian Malinois, was found in Hartlepool and taken to charity Stray Aid after a seven-day stay at the council pound.

Staff at the rehoming centre immediately saw his potential and contacted Durham Constabulary's Dog Support Unit.

He is now officially a police dog in training.

All being well, Jaeger will be licensed to work alongside officers in 12 to 18 months
