Meet Bob the therapy dog who supports the homeless
This is the story of Bob, a three-year-old black Lab and qualified therapy dog, who is supporting the homeless of Hartlepool alongside charity organisation Cornerstone.
The charity says the dog initially joined the team during their nightly street sweeps simply for exercise, but he soon proved to be a true hit and support.
"The difference is just unreal, we've had individuals who have been in crisis mode, so they'll get down and they'll hold Bob and, even if they're in tears, they'll hold Bob and it'll calm them down so then we can support them," said Nicky, Bob's owner and Cornerstone Support Comms Lead.
Bob's presence has had an extraordinary impact on people experiencing homelessness, she said, encouraging engagement and trust from those who were often difficult to reach.
He's a good boy.
