Watch: Cars crash off road in near-miss with cafe

The moment two cars veered on to a pavement next to a cafe's outside seating area was caught on CCTV.

Footage from Simple Food and Coffee in Buckhurst Hill, Essex showed shocked customers jumping from their seats as the cars crashed just metres away from their tables.

Essex Police confirmed it was called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision in Queens Road at about 13:25 BST on Monday but no-one was hurt.

Cafe manager Serhat Ayaz told BBC Essex: "We were serving coffee and heard a big noise. I’m just glad everyone was OK because, seconds before, a lady with babies came to the shop."
