Lorry driver caught eating with a spoon at the wheel
Eating at the wheel, scrolling through websites and texting before swearing at officers.
Over a four-day period, Gloucestershire Police caught drivers committing a variety of offences on the M5 as they patrolled in an unmarked HGV lorry loaned to the force by National Highways.
Police travelled in the vehicle between junctions 8 and 14 at the start of October, resulting in 20 drivers being stopped.
The force said the idea behind the operation was to educate motorists and reduce the number of incidents caused by unsafe driver behaviour or distractions “such as using a mobile phone, not wearing a seatbelt or having insecure loads".
