Losing Tory hails his record as town's MP

Defeated Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski said his greatest achievements in the area included helping to create the town centre redevelopment and work to tackle flooding.

Having been the area's representative for 19 years, the Conservative candidate lost to Labour's Julia Buckley.

Mr Kawczynski spoke to the BBC as he left Shrewsbury Sports Village where the count was held.

He said he planned to remain in Shrewsbury after his loss.
