Meet the 'Bus Aunty' who's gone viral on TikTok
Over the years, Bemi Orojuogun, known to her nearly 300,000 followers as "Bus Aunty", has loved exploring London and filming selfie videos in front of the city's landmarks, especially its red buses.
At first, her videos were simple clips of her smiling in different parts of London. But one day, everything changed.
"It was just a normal day," she says. "I took a quick video, posted it on TikTok, didn't think much about it, until my daughter called and said, "Mummy, you're going viral!" I was like, what?"
That video, filmed in front of a London bus, went on to be watched over four million times.
Since then, her videos have received tens of millions of views - with one racking up nearly 50 million views. She's also collaborated with the mayor of London, TfL, Ikea, and most recently, Burberry.
"Any way I can showcase London in a positive way, I will do so," she says. "I want people to see London the way I see it."
Bemi, who works as a mental health nurse, says she hopes her videos also spotlight the hard work of bus drivers.
"I want to thank them for everything they did during Covid. They kept going. Without them, I couldn't get to work. I think they're fantastic."
