Watch: Queen Elizabeth opens tech centre in 1975

Archive video showed Queen Elizabeth II officially opening and taking a tour of a research and development centre 50 years ago.

Crowds gathered at Ipswich's Adastral Park, then known as the Post Office Research Station, for the royal visit on 20 November 1975.

The centre had been pioneering work on technology including fibre optics, which have since revolutionised global communications.

Later renamed BT Labs and then Adastral Park, the campus in Martlesham, Suffolk, now houses a number of technology companies that carry out research at the site.
