Meet the 20-year-old Young Ringer of the Year

Iwan Cotgreave has already been bell-ringing for more than a decade and is keen to help inspire other young people to take up the niche activity.

“One of the fantastic things about this is the freedom I get to create,” the 20-year-old explained.

The physics student spends his time ringing near his campus in Swansea, alongside regular practices in Dalton and Barrow-in-Furness.

Iwan was surprised with an award for Young Ringer of the Year from the Carlisle Diocesan Guild.

He was secretly put forward for the accolade by his Tower Captain at St James the Great church, Andy Pollock, who said: “It's one of these hobbies that just connects with people in lots of different ways.”
