Ex-officer filmed speeding at 150mph on social media

A former police officer has been banned from driving after he was filmed speeding at more than 150mph (241km/h) in a social media post.

Petar Krtinic, 23, from Bedford, was given a12-month ban at Luton Magistrates' Court after he was filmed by his sister on 2 January.

An Instagram video showed Krtinic driving his Volkswagen Golf westbound on the A421 in Bedfordshire during wet conditions and another image showed him driving at night while his speedometer displayed 166mph (267km/h).

The former police officer was also sentenced to prison for 24 weeks, suspended for 12 months, and must complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Initially he had denied the charge of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, but later changed his plea to guilty.

Krtinic resigned from Bedfordshire Police while facing a misconduct hearing - relating to separate matters - in September 2024

The force said he would have been dismissed but he had already resigned.
