Therapy donkey gets life-changing orthopaedic boots

A rescue donkey which has weak hooves has "nervously" stepped out on to the grass in new life-changing orthopaedic boots.

Greenslate Community Farm in Billinge, Wigan, has raised hundreds of pounds to provide Freddie, who works as a therapy donkey, with the new footwear.

It means Freddie is no longer confined to the stables.

Rhiannon Jones from the community farm said the boots had given Freddie a "magical playground".
