When London said goodbye to the 2012 Olympics

For three weeks in the summer of 2012, the eyes of the world were on London as the city hosted the Olympic Games.

After an opening ceremony that was viewed by millions around the world, it would be hard to top it with the closing ceremony.

Named "A Symphony of British Music" the closing ceremony was celebrated for its homage to Britain's musical heritage, with nods to the likes of Freddie Mercury and John Lennon and live performances from Annie Lennox, George Michael and the Spice Girls, who were taken around the Olympic Stadium on the top of five black cabs.

We revisit the ceremony and find out what people thought of London's farewell to the 2012 Olympics.

First broadcast: 13 August 2012
