Daredevil, 94, braves world's longest zipline

A 94-year-old man braved the longest zipline in Europe after deciding: "I could do that."

David Aris, from Kendal, Cumbria, insisted he did not feel nervous as he sped through the air 500m above Penrhyn Quarry lake, near Bethesda, Gwynedd.

The thrill seeker decided to have a crack at the ride - the fastest of its kind in the world - to raise money for St John's Hospice.

In undertaking the challenge David, whose wife died last year, raised £8,962.

He did it in July and said after: "I didn't prepare in any way."
