Ballroom dancer, 11, stars in portrait exhibition
A young ballroom dancer has seen his portrait displayed in one of the world's most prestigious galleries.
Newcastle photographer Christopher Owens' work is being featured in the National Portrait Gallery.
His shot captures Abe, 11, a ballroom dancer, in a moment of reflection looking out of the window of his dance studio in the city's West End.
Mr Owens said "to walk in and see the print was overwhelming".
"With my work, I try and look for examples that breaks down outdated stereotypes of what masculinity looks like, so this is an example that can be held up and celebrated," he said.
Abe, who has been dancing since he was eight, travelled to London with his mum, Danielle, to see the portrait.
The photograph will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery until 8 February.
