Guernsey drivers to face longer theory tests in future

Driving theory tests in Guernsey are set to become longer and more challenging form 24 October this year.

This Environment Department has announced it will change the pass mark for car and motorcycle tests from 30 out of 35 questions to 43 out of 50.

The test for large goods vehicles and passenger-carrying vehicles will involve 100 questions, of which at least 85 must be answered correctly.

In addition, a hazard perception test may be introduced from next year.

This involves having to identify a series of potential obstacles and is already obligatory for theory tests in the UK.

The changes coincide with a change in location for the tests, which will be switched from the Guernsey College of Further Education to the department's offices at Bulwer Avenue in St Sampson.
