An island advocate who acted for a businessman convicted of money laundering has appeared in court to deny similar charges.

Jenny Holt, 30, was part of the defence team representing Trevor Baines during a trial in 2009.

Miss Holt denies money laundering, falsifying documents and concealing, destroying or disposing of a document required for a police investigation.

She told the court that at the time, she had no criminal experience.

Miss Holt continued that, despite this, she was still not given enough support from her company.

"I was very unhappy about being left to deal with it all. " said Miss Holt who admitted to being "absolutely terrified" when she went along to a police interview with Baines.

Miss Holt is due to be cross-examined by the prosecution at Douglas Court House on Friday.
