Isle of Man TT: Police issue 'Mad Sunday' warning

Police in the Isle of Man have warned motorists planning to spend "Mad Sunday" on the TT course that they will be "vigorously policing" the area.

It is tradition that members of the public can ride the mountain section of the course on Mad Sunday.

Insp Mark Britton said officers would be enforcing speed limits, using speed traps and would not tolerate anti-social riding or driving.

He reminded people that if they broke the law they could face prison.

Insp Mark Britton said: "I have already issued stark warnings this week about the dangers presented by not using the roads of the island with respect.

"On Mad Sunday we expect that there will be heavier traffic on the roads of the island generally and specifically on the mountain part of the TT course.

"Sentencing is a matter for the courts but remember a fine will be roughly £200 and your driving licence endorsed. For some offences you may go prison.

"But most of all, think of the family and friends you may leave behind."
