Appeal for 'patience' during Isle of Man roadworks

The infrastructure department has appealed for "patience and understanding" ahead of major road maintenance work in the Isle of Man.

The improvements will be carried out during January and will affect roads and pavements in Douglas and Ramsey.

Work in the capital, expected to take five months, will mean a one-way system between Finch Road and Prospect Hill.

The Ramsey work will take about four months, with restricted pavement access for pedestrians in the town centre.

A government spokesman said Lezayre Road, between Parliament Square and Bircham Avenue, will be closed to traffic although a footpath will be kept open.

A diversion will be in place on Bircham Avenue and Station Road.

Other roadworks due to resume in January will affect Derby Road in Peel and Shore Road in Port Erin.
