Jersey charity advisory group is set up

A new group which will advise the government on how its social services can be more effective and work with the government has been set up.

The Third Sector Forum hopes to play an active role in policy development, its chairman Jim Hopley said.

The third sector is a group of charities and not-for-profit organisations which was suggested in the States Strategic plan.

Mr Hopley said work was needed to improve the governance of the sector.

He said: "What is really required is a broader situation where government, organisations can interchange both upwards and downwards so we can improve the governance and performance of the third sector."
