Republican candidates - Herman Cain

As the first votes of the primary season approach, the BBC looks at the Republican candidates hoping to stand against President Barack Obama in November.
Herman Cain
A former pizza restaurant chain executive, lobbyist and radio chat show presenter, Mr Cain touted his lack of political and governing experience as a virtue.
Through the summer and autumn, he excited Republican audiences with his folksy speaking style and his "9-9-9" tax plan.
His popularity soared, then dropped almost as rapidly amid a series of sexual harassment allegations and a woman's claim they had a long-term extramarital affair. Compounding that, he appeared woefully ignorant on some crucial foreign policy questions, including the nature of the US role in the Libyan uprising.
Mr Cain dropped out of the race in early December, and analysts noted that concerns about his qualification to sit in the Oval Office seemed to have nothing to do with his withdrawal.
