Fundraisers Freddie and Hughie open garden at Manchester Children's Hospital

A new rooftop garden has been opened at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital thanks to super fundraisers Hughie and Freddie.
The best friends raised a whopping £300,000 with their Play Appeal to create the space for young patients receiving care at the hospital.
Hughie was one of the kids needing treatment after he was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2020 when he was 10-years-old.
He's now cancer-free but with the help of his best mate, they're making the experience just a little bit better for other children in the future.

When Hughie was diagnosed with leukaemia, his best friend Freddie started doing a running challenge to help raise money for Hughie's hospital.
Freddie ran two kilometres a day for 50 days - he said: "It was going to be really hard, I knew that, but I knew it wasn't going to be as hard as what Hughie was doing."
Hughie was really touched by his effort: "I was really happy that he did that for me and look where it's brought us now... Freddie got me through my treatment."
As soon as Hughie felt better he joined the fundraising.
They have since run 100 km around 100 football clubs and organised a campaign to revamp the hospital's rooftop playground - which is 14 years old (older than them) and Hughie said it's an incredibly important place.
He said it was a significant part of his hospital experience, as "it was the only bit of fresh air that I got in six weeks".
He continued: "It's so important... because you want to feel like a kid".
All of that hard work has paid off, with the rooftop garden officially open to patients complete with hopscotch, a cabin and music.
