Are you Ready For It?

Taylor Swift has announced she's dropping a new album - and fans won't have long to wait.

'The Life of a Showgirl' is due to come out later this year and will be the singer's 12th studio album.

It follows The Tortured Poets Department, released last year, which broke the Spotify record for being the most-streamed album in a day.

The announcement was made on the singer's official website after a mysterious timer appeared and began a countdown to 00:12 ET (05:12 UK time).

A brief clip also went up online which showed Swift pulling a copy of the album from a briefcase with the cover blurred.

The list of song titles for the new album is yet to be confirmed and no release date has been revealed yet.

However, Swift's website said that pre-ordered albums would be sent out by 13 October - suggesting that the release date is likely to be before then.

The album is the first since Swift announced earlier this year that she had bought back the rights to her first six albums, ending a long-running battle over the ownership of her music.

The singer finished her epic, record-breaking Eras Tour in December after playing a total of 149 shows in 53 cities over 21 months.

It's thought the tour raked in around £1.5 billion in ticket sales alone, making it the most profitable tour in music history.
