VE Day: Veteran Mervyn Kersh tells his story
Mervyn Kersh fought in World War Two and is one of the few veterans still alive today to tell his story.
He joined the British Army when he was 18 and when he was 19, he landed on the beaches of Normandy, three days after the start of the D-Day invasion.
After the D-day landings Mervyn and his comrades in the British Army had to fight against the Nazis to push their way through Europe.
He eventually found himself in the heart of Nazi Germany where he saw the true horrors of the Nazi regime and the Holocaust.
Emma-Louise joined him at a school in London where year eight pupils could hear his first hand experience of fighting in the war and the lessons we need to remember 80 years on from VE Day.
