Astro Bot wins big at Bafta Games Awards

The Bafta Game Awards have taken place in London, with some of the biggest video games of the year going head-to-head.

The awards occur every year and are one of the most important nights in the calendar for the gaming industry.

And it was good news for fans of Astro Bot.

The PlayStation robot-themed game ended up winning five awards - including the top prize of Game of the Year!

The event also had a special reunion for Harry Potter fans, read on to find out more.

What is Astro Bot about?

Astro Bot is a colourful 3D platform game on the PS5.

It was released last year, to celebrate Playstation's 30th anniversary.

The game sees players take control of the main character, Astro, exploring 50 planets which are full of surprises including characters from some of Playstation's hit games.

As well as Game of the Year, Astro Bot also won awards for Best Animation, Family Game, Audio Achievement and Game Design.

Picking up the awards, its director Nicolas Doucet dedicated the Best Game prize to developers who had "inspired others to join the industry".

In the Family Game category, Astro Bot beat some stiff competition.

Other games that were nominated include Lego Horizon Adventures, The Plucky Squire, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Cat Quest III, and Little Kitty, Big City.

Potter reunion!

And there was also a treat for movie fans at the event.

It saw a mini Harry Potter reunion as Neville Longbottom and Cho Chang gave out some of the prizes.

Neville (real name Matthew Lewis) presented the Astro Bot team with the Game Design award, and before that we also saw Cho (real name, Katie Leung) hand out the best supporting actor trophy!
