Fizz the cat loves to wander, so much so that he even crashed a live performance at the local theatre

This year's National Cat of the Year is ginger cat Fizz from Powys in Wales.

Fizz who is four, loves wandering about town. His popularity has grown so much that he even has his own Facebook page with 1,600 followers.

He has visited newsagents, the gym, banks, a job centre, the library and he's even appeared on stage at the local theatre, sneaking in through the back door and wandering out from backstage during a live performance.

"Fizz started disappearing when he was nine months old. We were driving around looking for him everywhere, so we set up a Facebook page asking people to post a photo if they saw him," said Fizz's owner Briony.

"Fizz just loves to follow people. It doesn't matter if they're going five minutes or four miles, he'll follow them.

"He does what he wants, when he wants, I've just got to accept he's a natural-born wanderer. He adores people and loves attention."

Carrot has brought lots of joy to her owners

Carrot who is 22, is a senior cat from Hereford who hasn't let her age stop her living life to the full.

Carrot had given up hope of leaving the rescue centre where she lived, until her owners Charlotte and Rob requested the 'saddest cat' no one wanted.

Their bond with her was instant and Carrot has been with them through some big milestones including moving house which turned out to be very stressful, bringing lots of joy and playfulness.

"If I could be an advocate for adopting older cats, I would, she has brought so much joy," Carrot's owner shared.

Magic helped his owner Jon through a really difficult time

Magic is a black and white cat from Surrey who has been a huge support to his owner Jon.

Jon sadly lost his partner Lara after she fell ill, but Magic helped him during the difficult time.

The black-and-white cat was a constant companion, providing comfort and support.

"Magic is a very special cat to me. Losing Lara was life changing and he knew that I was grieving and made sure he was always there for me, giving me cuddles and helping me through the dark times," Jon said.

"The house would have felt a lot emptier without him.

"He's my best friend as well as a loyal companion. We have an unbreakable bond."

Void is very protective over his owner Laura

Black cat Void from Surrey has saved his owner Laura's life on multiple occasions.

Laura has a heart condition which causes her to experience pain, dizziness and a really high heart rate.

Void isn't professionally trained, but can sense when an episode is about to happen and alerts Laura by standing on her chest and tapping her with his paw.

He's also had a positive impact on her mental health.

"He's very protective," Laura says.

"He sprints over at full speed and gently taps me over and over again until he sees that I'm listening."
