England thrashed Scotland 59-7 in the Women's Six Nations to extend their unbeaten run in the competition.

The result also sets up a Grand Slam decider against France next weekend, after they came from behind to beat Italy in their match earlier in the day.

Bottom of the table Wales host Ireland later today in Newport.

The women's Six Nations is seen by many as a crucial step towards the Women's Rugby World Cup which takes place this summer.

England put in an impressive performance as they scored nine tries in a bonus-point victory to beat Scotland in Leicester.

Captain Zoe Aldcroft, Kelsey Clifford, Marlie Packer, Claudia MacDonald, Abbie Ward and Lark Atkin-Davies all went over to put England 42-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw wingers Abby Dow and MacDonald add three more tries for England, before Lisa Thomson finally got Scotland on the board with a try from a rolling maul.

The win keeps England a point clear at the top of the table and extends the Red Roses winning run to 24 games as they prepare for a home Rugby World Cup this summer.

England are the big favourites to win the Women's Six Nations title for the seventh time in a row as they now face France in the title decider next weekend.

France had a much tougher match as they took on Italy in Parma.

They were forced to fight back from 21-12 behind at half-time to beat Italy 34-21 for their fourth win of the championship.

The result means that France keep their 100% winning record so far in the competition.

They will travel to London's Twickenham stadium next weekend to face England in the Grand Slam decider on Saturday afternoon.

France were the last side to beat England in the Six Nations back in 2018.
