How long are you allowed to play games for?

If you like to play video games, the chances are at some point, you've been told it's time to turn them off.
Sometimes you might ask for five more minutes of playing time, but some games are set to make it harder for you to carry on gaming.
Epic Games, who are the makers of Fortnite, have introduced new features that let grown-ups control how long you can play for and tell them how long you have spent gaming.
What do you think of the new features? Do you think they are a good idea? Do you think they are fair?

What are parental controls?
The new features are something known as 'parental controls'.
You might not have realised, but lots of different things you use could already have parental controls, like streaming services and smartphones.
They let your parent or guardian control what features you can use on a device or service and can limit what you see or how you communicate with others.
There are already some controls in Fornite, which can restrict in-game purchases and also stop the use of certain items, like some back blings.
Parental controls are designed to keep you safe and make sure the content you are seeing is appropriate.
What do the new Fornite parental controls do?
The new parental controls let an adult decide how long you can play Fornite for each day, they also can limit when in the day you can jump into a game.
When your time is almost up you will get a reminder in-game, but don't worry if you are closing in on a Victory Royale, you can ask for a little more time through the system too.
Adults will also have the opportunity to see how long you have been playing for.
So, what do you think of the new controls? Do you think they are are good idea? Do you think they are fair? Let us know in the comments.
