New Toy Story film announced - but what's it all about?
- Published
Nearly 30 years after the very first Toy Story was released, Disney have announced that the fifth film in the franchise will be coming to cinemas in 2026.
Woody, Buzz and Jessie will be returning in a brand new adventure, but there's still very little known about what is in store.
The team behind Toy Story 5 have released a teaser trailer and an image which shows the toys watching a child who appears to be playing with a tablet instead of playing with them.
The film was revealed at Disney's D23 Entertainment Showcase in California, along with some exciting announcements about other projects.

What do we know about Toy Story 5 so far?
The teaser trailer released as part of D23 - an annual event held by Disney to announce the details of upcoming movies.
Woody, Jessie and Buzz wave, wink and salute at the camera in the trailer - but no scenes were shown from the upcoming film.
According to Disney, Toy Story 5 will be about "Toy meets Tech", with the job of the toys getting harder "as they go head to head with this all-new threat to playtime".
As well as the familiar faces returning to the screen, Andrew Stanton will be co-directing, who's worked on every single film in the series.
Toy Story 5 will released in cinemas on 19 June 2026.
What was announced at D23?
Fans at D23 got to hear a brand new song for Moana 2, called We're Back, as well as an appearance from the voice of Maui, Dwayne Johnson.
Disney also showed a special clip from another sequel, Zootropolis, featuring a snake on the run called Gary!
Frozen writer and director Jennifer Lee also came to the stage to share some concept art for Frozen 3, but viewers will have to wait a while for the full thing - which will be released in cinemas in 2027.
