England's Lionesses started the defence of their Euro's title, having won the title in 2022.

They opened their campaign against France. However, things didn't go quite to plan with France winning 2-1.

It meant England became the first defending champions to lose their opening game of a following tournament.

Their second group match was against the Netherlands.

It was a much better performance from England, who bounced back to thrash the Netherlands 4-0.

Euro 2025 is Wales' first appearance at the Women's Euros, having never made it to a major tournament before.

Their first match was against tough opponents, the Netherlands, crowned European Champions in 2017 and runners-up at the World Cup two years later.

The Dutch team finished 3-0 winners.

Their second group match was against France. Although they lost the game 4-1 overall, Wales made history in the match.

Their goal, scored by Jess Fishlock, was a huge moment, as it was Wales' first ever goal at a major tournament.

Fishlock also became the oldest woman to score at the European Championships at the age of 38 years and 176 days.

What do Wales and England need to do to qualify?

The top two teams from each of the four groups at Euro 2025 will progress to the quarter-finals, with the sides in third and fourth eliminated.

Here's what both teams need to do to get through to the knockout stages.

For the England, their result against the Netherlands means that they are currently second in Group D.

A against Wales will qualify England for the quarter-finals, no matter the result in the other Group D game - Netherlands vs France.

If the Lionesses fail to beat Wales, they could still reach the quarter-finals if other results go their way.

However, things are a little trickier for Wales.

They are currently sat bottom of Group D with no points from their first two games.

But Wales can still qualify for the knockout stages of Euro 2025, heading into their final group game against England this weekend.

For Wales to progress, they need to beat the Lionesses by at least four goals, and hope that France beat the Netherlands.
