Disney's live action Lilo & Stitch - Everything you need to know

Disney's chaotic, fluffy, blue alien Stitch and his human pal Lilo are back.

That's right, Disney's Lilo & Stitch is heading to cinemas around the world soon, but this time in a new live action, CGI remake.

The original animated movie was first released back in 2002 and fans are excited to see what the live-action version has in store for them.

But when is it out and who is in it we hear you ask? Well, fear not, we've got all the answers below...

When is the Lilo & Stitch live action movie out?

The new Disney live action Lilo & Stitch movie is out in cinemas around the world on 23 May 2025.

What is Lilo & Stitch about?

Lilo & Stitch follows the story of a little girl named Lilo from Hawaii, who is being raised by her older sister Nani after the death of their parents.

Lilo visits an animal shelter and adopts Stitch, after mistakenly thinking he is a dog.

In reality Stitch is an alien experiment, who escaped and crash-landed on Earth.

The two team-up together to out-smart humans and aliens in order to keep their 'ohana' - the Hawaiian word for family - together.

In the original film, Stitch was voiced by the film's director Chris Sanders, and he is returning to voice the fuzzy alien in the live-action remake.

You might recognise Chris Sanders as the director of The Wild Robot and co-director of the How to Train Your Dragon animated movie.

Lilo will be played by eight-year-old actress Maia Kealoha who is from Honolulu, in Hawaii.

Lilo's sister Nani will be played by Sydney Agudong, and her friend David will be played by Kaipo Dudoit.

The alien agents Pleakley and Jumba will be voiced by actors Billy Magnussen and Zach Galifianakis, and the Grand Councilwoman will be played by Hannah Waddingham.

Meanwhile back on Earth, human social workers Mrs. Kekoa and Cobra Bubbles will be played by Tia Carrere and Courtney B. Vance.
