The prime minister's family have rolled out a royal welcome to Downing Street - for their new kitten called Prince.

Sir Keir Starmer said his children had originally wanted a dog, however after "long negotiations" they decided to get a Siberian kitten.

This breed of cat is known for its long fluffy coat. They are energetic, adventurous and good at problem solving. They also love cuddles!

The tiny ball of white fluff is already helping out with im-paw-tant matters by the looks of it - as his paws can be seen on the prime minister's paperwork.

What other furry friends will Prince be joining in Downing Street?

Every prime minister is allowed to move their family pets into their official London home when they get the job.

Prince becomes the third cat to currently live at Downing Street, Sir Keir and his family already had a family cat, a rescue called JoJo.

Then, of course, there's Larry the cat.

Larry started living there in February 2011 and never left.

He is the first cat at Number 10 to be given the official title Chief Mouser. Hopefully he'll be feline fine about the new addition.
