Hazy the sea lion helps scientists

A sea lion is helping scientists learn more about the species, and to understand why they're dying out.

Canadian experts have fitted tracking devices to Hazy, who they reckon is the first sea lion to understand voice and hand commands.

They study her as she dives deep into the waters around British Columbia and hope the information they learn will help protect sea lions in the future.

Hazy and three other sea lions have been given the special backpacks to wear.

The icy waters here in Vancouver are more than a mile deep and perfect to monitor how the animals hunt, and how much energy they use doing it.
