Italian authorities battling pooping pooch owners

Naples is taking a tough stance against dog owners who leave pet mess on the streets, by using forensic tests to track them down.

The city authorities are using DNA testing to work out which animal is responsible.

DNA is unique to each human, and to each dog, so DNA samples are being taken from dogs and put on a database.

Any poop found on the streets will be tested for doggy DNA and matched against their records.

Dog owners could then face a fine for letting their pooches poop on the streets.
