Warning over cheap phone chargers

Safety experts are warning people not to buy cheap chargers for their mobile phones, tablet computers or laptops.

Cheap replacement chargers often look the same as the original ones, but can set fire because they're not wired properly.

Chargers bought on auction websites are usually much cheaper than their branded ones but there is no guarantee they meet UK safety standards.

Emma Apta from Electric Safety First told the BBC that more fake chargers are coming into the country.

Experts recommend only using authentic chargers with the manufacturer's logo on them, which has to be there by law.

If there's no maker's logo - then there's a good chance it's a fake and not safe.

It's also a good idea not to leave your phone charging overnight.
