A huge sinkhole has appeared in a field in England

A giant sinkhole has opened up on farmland in County Durham.

It is thought it has been caused by heavy rain washing soil and rocks into a former lead mining site under the land.

The hole appeared quite suddenly and is still growing: it is already 110ft (35m) wide.

Farmer John Hensby from Cowshill near Bishop Auckland, said his partner discovered the hole.

Hear him describe the moment he saw it.
