Mo Farah wins the Great North Run 2014

Olympic champion Mo Farah has won the Great North Run 2014.

He held off strong competition from Kenya's Mike Kigen.

The 31-year-old set a new personal best of exactly one hour.

It is the second time Mo has taken part in the 13.1 mile race held in Newcastle.

Last year Mo was narrowly beaten in a sprint finish by Kenenisa Bekele from Ethiopia.

Kenya's Mary Keitany set a new course record to win the women's race this year.

Great Britain's Gemma Steel came second.

Britain's Shelly Woods won her sixth title in the women's wheelchair race.

Jordi Madeira from Spain won the men's wheelchair race.
