A new baby giraffe has been born at the Belfast Zoo

A rare breed of baby giraffe has been born at the Belfast Zoo.

The calf, who was born on Easter Sunday, is a Rothchild's giraffe, which is one of the most endangered sub-species of the animal.

It has not been named yet but keepers say they are very pleased with how well it's adapting to zoo life.

All giraffes give birth standing up, which means that the calf falls more than five feet to the ground. The calf then learns how to stand up within the first 30 minutes of its life and can even start to run just 10 hours after birth.
