Solar Impulse 2 plane lands in Nanjing, China

The sun-powered plane Solar Impulse 2 has landed safely in Nanjing, in the east of China.

The plane is on a mission to travel right around the globe.

On this latest leg of the journey, Bertrand Piccard piloted the plane from Chongqing in the west of China, a journey of 800 miles.

Now the plane will face the tough challenge of crossing the Pacific Ocean.

Over the next 10 days, Solar Impulse will have all its systems checked.

Weather experts will then recommend a suitable time to attempt the Pacific flight, when the weather is calm.

The journey will be done in two stages, with a rest in the American island state of Hawaii.

The plane flies slowly, so it will be in the air continuously for several days and nights.

No solar-powered plane has ever flown around the world.
