Pakistan affected by intense heatwave

A heatwave in southern Pakistan has caused temperatures to reach 45 degrees celsius.

More than 800 people have died because of the heat and special centres have been set-up to help people stay cool.

Officials there have been criticised for not doing enough to tackle the crisis.

Many people are angry because power cuts have restricted the use of air-conditioning units and fans.

The situation has also worsened, because many people are fasting during Ramadan and are going without food and water during daylight hours.

BBC reporter Shahzeb Jillani sent Newsround a special report from Karachi.
