Carli Lloyd wins Women's football player of the year

USA's World Cup-winning midfielder Carli Lloyd, won women's world player of the year at the Ballon d'Or awards.

She scored a hat-trick against Japan in the final of the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada in 2015, earning the Golden Ball for best player in the tournament.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or award for best football player in the world.
