How maths can help you to make the perfect free kick

Maths and football aren't two things you would normally put together, but a new mathematical formula might be able to help you take the perfect free kick.

Riva Casley, a defender for the England's Under 17s football squad, has been working with some maths experts to come up with a formula which calculates how to make a perfect free kick.

The formula takes into account the size of the ball, how heavy it is, how hard it was kicked and the thickness of the air around it.

The formula can help footballers know how to kick the ball to score every time.

Take a look.
