What are the arguments against homework?

For the last 100 years or so, experts have been trying to work out if it is a good idea to give homework to kids in primary schools.

Newsround spoke to Nansi Ellis - assistant general secretary of one of the biggest teacher's unions in England, made up of teachers and heads - who doesn't believe that giving homework to primary school children is a good idea.
