African elephants may be shortest-sleeping mammals

African elephants already hold the title for largest land animal, but now they might be about to break another record... for least sleep.

Researchers have found that African elephants in the wild sleep an average of two hours a day and regularly go nearly two days without sleep.

They monitored two African female elephants in Chobe National Park, Botswana, for 35 days.
