'I was one the last people in Europe to know that the war was over'
On Thursday 8 May people will be coming together to remember and celebrate Victory in Europe Day, also know as VE Day.
On this day 80 years ago Germany surrendered and WW2 in Europe came to an end.
During the six years of the war many people had been killed and families separated, but now life could start to gradually return to some kind of normality.
We've been speaking to some people who were there to hear their memories about the day, including Mervyn who was asleep on a train when victory was declared.
