What is the Esports World Cup and why are some gamers unhappy about it?

Gamers from across the world will be in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia from Thursday 4 July to compete against each other in the very first Esports World Cup.

More than one thousand elite e-sport players from over 60 countries will battle it out for their share of a prize worth over 50 million pounds - the largest ever for an esports contest.

Players will compete on a range of different video games, such as EA FC24, Rocket League and Fortnite.

But not everyone is happy, with some are saying the event shouldn’t be held in Saudi Arabia because of the country's history on human rights.
