Umar Akmal: Leicestershire sign Pakistan batsman for T20 Blast

Akmal can also keep wicket but is best known as a big-hitting batsman

Leicestershire have completed the signing of Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal for part of their T20 Blast campaign.

The 24-year-old will play four games, starting against Northants on 12 June, covering for Grant Elliott when the New Zealander is representing his country against England in the ODI series.

Akmal is a middle-order batsman who has played 16 Tests and 111 ODIs.

"It is brilliant that we are signing a player of Umar's quality," said head coach Andrew McDonald.

"We are all looking forward to him showcasing his skills over the four games."

Akmal is the brother of fellow Pakistan internationals Kamran and Adnan.
